Activate

tactile craft, in the room

A curated shop of handmade Swedish craft and design, set up wherever you need it. It’s tactile, physical, and nothing is mass-produced. It works for a launch, a store takeover, a conference floor, a client event, or a day of Christmas shopping in your office. We pick the selection together and I arrive with everything and set it all up myself, so you don’t have to sort out stock, staff or tables.

Could be: a launch · a store activation · a conference · a client event · a Christmas shopping day · a week in the lobby

Create

hands-on making, together

The hands-on part of an evening you’re already planning. Clay on the table, wax melting, flowers in buckets, the smell and the mess and the making, all led by makers who do this for a living. It can run high energy, like a craft rave with a DJ, or calm and focused, like an art journaling session to slow things down. Either way people leave holding something they made, not just a lanyard.

Could be: the activity at your Christmas party · a kickoff · an after-work · a client evening · 8 to 200 people

Gift

handmade, delivered

A stoneware mug with the maker’s stamp on the base. A hand-poured candle, or a hand-printed card with a name on it. Handmade gifts chosen from our makers for your people and your occasion, then packed and delivered. There’s no event needed. A brief and a budget is enough.

Could be: employee holiday gifts · client packages · speaker gifts · onboarding boxes · from 20 units

Where

Winterviken, Stockholm

A quiet, unactivated room at Winterviken Restaurang och Konferens, turned into a curated summer destination store with gatherings running through the season. Twenty-two independent makers, chosen for one edit, mostly small-batch and handmade work.

We chose the range with each maker, built the space, priced and staffed it, and ran it all summer. Ceramics were thrown and glazed one at a time, textiles woven and sewn in small runs, candles poured by hand and jewellery finished by hand.

The room had things at eye height, space to move around and objects grouped together. People picked things up, turned them over and asked who made them.

Alongside the shop we ran the space for making. A hands-on ceramics workshop with Strange Ceramics tested the idea, and open evenings and summer gatherings ran through the season. The takeaway was clear: a curated shop is good, and a curated shop people can also make something in is even better.

In 2027 the making side grows into a full programme of maker-led workshops and hands-on experiences running alongside the retail, across more disciplines, with formats built for private groups and companies.

Venues

Your space,
or one of ours.

Most of what we do happens in your office, your store or at your event. If you don’t have the right room, we work with partner venues across Stockholm, from historic industrial spaces to central city rooms, and can source, book and run the space as part of the same booking.

The studio

The Other Side Studio is the company-facing side of The Other Side Market, a curated craft market that has run in Stockholm since 2019. The market and its makers came first. The studio exists because companies kept asking us to bring what happens at our markets, the stalls, the conversations and the pieces you pick up and can’t put down, inside their own walls. Craft is one of the most experiential things you can put in a room, because people can touch it, make it and take it home.

Who you’ll work with

Dixie Leigh Thomas, Founder

I’ve spent six years building The Other Side Market and the maker network behind it, now organised through HejMakers, the platform we built where each maker runs their whole business from one profile.

You work with me directly, from the first call through to the day itself.

Good to know

What does it cost?

It depends on format and headcount. Send your budget range and we’ll show you what fits inside it. That’s what the 48-hour proposal is for.

Does this work as a brand activation?

Yes, that’s most of what Activate is. A curated craft shop or making station inside a launch, a store takeover, a conference or a press event. The selection is chosen to fit your brand and your audience, and it gives people something to hold instead of another branded pen.

Can we put our brand on it?

Discreetly, and always agreed with the maker. We can develop custom pieces with a maker for your brand, or keep your name to the card and the room. Handmade that looks like merch loses what makes it work.

Do you come to us?

Yes, everything we do happens in your space. Your office, your venue, your store, or wherever your event is already booked. We handle transport, setup, staffing and clear-up.

How does the pop-up work in practice?

We agree a selection together, then I arrive with the stock and set the whole thing up, run the till and pack it all down again afterwards. You just need to give us the space. Your team can pay for what they buy, or you can put a budget behind it so everyone has an amount to spend. Both work.

How many people?

From 8 for a making session up to several hundred for a pop-up. The number shapes how many makers come and how we build the room.

How far ahead should we book?

Six to eight weeks is comfortable, and earlier for November and December. Working on a shorter timeline? Ask anyway. We’ve moved fast before, the maker selection just gets a bit narrower.

Do you work with agencies and event planners?

Yes. We slot into a bigger production as the craft element, or run the whole thing ourselves. Either way you get one contact and one contract.

Planning something?

Tell us the occasion.
We’ll make it tactile.
